He married Isabelle Shipe in 1931. At that time, Robert worked as a meatcutter.
When he died, Robert and Isabelle lived in Annuille, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. His occupation is listed as "maintenance" on his death certificate.

Identified in 2011 by Judy Reynolds, a great niece of Robert Lee Gochenour. She added he was her grandmother's brother and the family had a copy of this photograph at home.
