Letter:

Dear Family, This is my attempt at an Easter greeting. I couldn’t send any presents for financial reasons and they were out of cards in the PX, so I’ll try to do my best here. I can’t tell you about my training because we aren’t allowed to, but we still do a lot of drilling and hiking, our longest hike was 40 miles.
The box came yesterday and was enjoyed by all. Joe and Stine said tell you thanks a lot for the eggs.
I don’t owe any money now and if the money I asked for gets here I’ll be o.k. as it is I have $4 to last two weeks and a guy owes me $3, I’ll get that pay day.
Los Angeles is a very beautiful city and quite a large place. They have a hub?way. I have been with the same girl both times. I have been out and stayed at her home.
Send more questions. I really enjoy filling them out. Erma, I got your card yesterday and it certainly made the day more cheerful. Dad, I really liked the card you sent and I was glad to see your writing on an envelope again. I am always waiting for your cards, letters, and boxes.
I really like the billfold. It was something I really needed. Tell Ma Ma I was glad to hear from her and the dollar came in very handy. Mother, don’t take Va. Too seriously She is just a kid yet and she fell for old Casanova Joe. Ha. Send me the letter you got from her. I would like to read it. Remember Margaret Strosnider from Strasburg that I was with while I was with while I was on furlough? Well, she writes me twice a week and is still No. 1 on my heart parade.
She may come to see you and if she does give her a kiss for me. She looks like Rita Hayworth or at least she does to me. Well, I gotta sign off. All my love & kisses, Joe (Has Easter drawings at bottom of page.)
