Description
The name, “Paul S. Coffelt”, is written on the glass plate of this image of a young girl seated on the edge of a chair.
On further research, we believe this was probably Kay Frances Coffelt, the daughter of Paul Samuel Coffelt (1903-2003) (born in Winchester), and Mary Bond (Parker) (1914-2000) Coffelt, (born in West Virginia).
Kay was born in April 1944 in Washington D.C. She was the firstborn child of this couple. Her mother had an older son from a prior marriage to Raymond Taylor.
In 1950, the census found the family living in Opequon, Frederick County. Kay’s father worked at a Rayon Textile Plant. A few years later, Kay attended James Wood High School in Winchester.
In 1962, Kay married Floyd Leslie Ritter, a carpenter born in Winchester. At that time, Kay worked as a secretary and lived in Middletown.
