Portrait of Mary Bair Bowman as a young woman.
Mary was the only child of Franklin Schmucker (1871-1963) and Sarah Fletcher (Supinger) (1870-1953) Bowman.
She was a teacher in Shenandoah County for many years. According to her mother's obituary, she also was the first woman to be elected to the church council of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she also served as the church organist.
