Jessie lived in the Woodstock area. She was the third child of 11 born to William Clifton and Catherine "Katie Belle" (Heishman) Beatley.

Jessie worked at the Woodstock Tastee Freez, a popular hang-out in the '60s.

She married John Wilbur "Mike" Gochenour (1912-1977). The couple had six children.
