Description

Portrait of Katie (Getz) Meyerhoffer wearing round glasses and short hair.

Katie was from the Lee District of Shenandoah County, a daughter of Charles Moses and Annie M. (Jones) Getz. The family farmed.

She married Charles Davis Meyerhoffer (1887-1942) in Bridgewater in 1929. His parents were Charles L. and Vernie Laura (Riddle) Meyerhoffer. He was born in Rockingham County.

When they married, they lived in North River, West Virginia, where her husband was a merchant. In 1930, they lived on Keezletown Road in the Ashby District of Shenandoah County where her husband was a retail merchant in a general store. Later, they lived in Mt. Katie’s husband died in his fifties. Eight years later, the 1950 census found her living with her brother’s family back in the Lee District.

When she died, she lived in Mt. Jackson.
