Portrait of Omar Fravel, Jr., brother of Hugh Fravel, as a young man.
Omar was from Woodstock, the son of Omar H. Fravel Sr. and Mettie (Pence) Fravel. In the 1940 census, Omar lived with his parents and younger brother, Hugh, on Commerce Street. His father was a cabinet maker in an antique shop. By 1950, his father had died and Omar Jr. was the cabinet maker in the family.
He was an army veteran and worked for a time at Lear Corporation.
Omar married for the first time in 1953. His wife was Grace Marie Pittington, born in Strasburg. That marriage lasted until 1969, when they divorced. By then, Omar worked as a television repairman. The couple had one child and lived in Toms Brook.
His second wife was Elsie Lee (Johnson) (1923-2007), a divorced mother of four children, originally from Fort Valley. Omar and Elsie had at least one child together. They lived in Edinburg when she died.
