Front: Dear Maw,
I found this card in the PX and thought the old lady might like it. I don’t have that ration card. You ask about the weather here. We have had one rain and the weather has gotten rather cool. The ringworm is getting well. Well Maw I’m on the rifle range now and am going to try for expert. Love Joe.

Reverse: To A Marine’s Mother by Riley Scott
Whether on the stormy ocean
Or some tropic island's shore,
In the battle's wild commotion
Or the city's friendly roar,

Thy dear face is e'er beside me
In these tragic days of war-
Thy sweet smile doth ever guide me
Like a friendly beacon-star.
