Camp Pendleton
Dear Mother,
Here I am out in the field again and on mess duty, too. The fellow that kept me from getting it before was transferred so they finally got me. I am writing this by lantern light so it won’t be long.
I went to L.A. over the weekend and had a swell time. I met about 4 women and stayed at one’s house over nite—well from 6 till 11 in the morning. Ha. Her family treated me swell. I got the slip for your last box this evening and I’ll get it tomorrow. The ones’ I forgot to mention were swell and tell dad the bucks came in handy. I paid for my laundry with it. Well I gotta go to bed,
Love,
Joe
