Biographical Text
Jailed in Woodstock, Virginia, for being a runaway. In a notice published in the Shenandoah Herald, Abner is described as being five feet and six inches tall and missing his upper front teeth.
Though Abner had been enslaved by Anthony Thorton, he had been hired out to Samuel Miller, an iron master.
