Biographical Text
On October 6, 1829, Joseph was on trial for allegedly raping Anna Roy, the wife of William Roy, on September 27, 1829. The court ruled unanimously that Joseph was guilty. Joseph was sentenced to be hanged on November 20, 1829. The court valued him at $250.
