Additional Information
Enslaved by Philip Pitman.
Mark Bird sold Charles to settle Philip Pitman's deed of trust debts to Bank of Staunton.
In the 1850 census, Philip Pitman had 11 enslaved people: 6 males aged 60, 40, 28, 20, 20, and 16; 5 females aged 45 (mulatto), 23, 18, 12 (mulatto), and 2 months (mulatto).
Philip Pitman enslaved another person named Elen (EnslavedPerson:18491). Both Elen and Ellen were born around the same time. It is not proven if this is the same Ellen.
