Biographical Text
Lived in Beckford Parish. On July 1, 1796, Fortune was on trial for allegedly killing Sukey (EnslavedPerson:20013) by throwing her down the stairs of William Aylett Booth's home. The court found Fortune guilty and sentenced him to execution by hanging. He was executed on August 12, 1796. Before his death, the court valued him at 80 pounds "current money."
