Description
Postcard showing the "Public School Building" in Woodstock Virginia.
Originally constructed as a private residence by Mark Bird in the first half of the 19th century. Around 1899 it was purchased by the Town of Woodstock and became the community's public school. It served as such until 1908 when a new school was erected on Court Street.
This building was originally located on Muhlenberg Street where the US Post Office now stands, but was moved to its present location behind the Post Office when that structure was built in 1927.
