A February 7, 1800 deed records the sale of Tom and a girl named Peggy to William Lillard of Cocke County Tennessee for $150.
The sale was conducted by their owner, William Tyler. At the time of the sale Tom was 30 years of age and Peggy 5 years of age. The relationship between the two enslaved persons is unknown.
