Susie was born in Fort Valley to John Adam Grove and Essie Susan (Henry) Clem.

Susie (Clem) Larkin graduated from Bridgewater College and married Clarence Hottle Larkin, from Columbia Furnace.

She was a teacher who worked for 32 years in the school systems of Page and Shenandoah counties. She taught at Powells Fort Valley, Page County and Columbia Furnace elementary schools.

The name, "Clem", is written on the glass plate.

Identified in 2010 by Linda L. Varney who was a friend of Susie (Clem) Larkin and remembered this photograph was taken before Susie married.

She also noted Morrison Studio Collection number 019743 was taken after they married.
