Fun at the Fair

The Shenandoah County Fair isn’t all about displays and competitions. Its also about having fun.

One of the earliest forms of entertainment involved racing. Donkeys, horses, mules, cars, bicycles, and motorcycles have been raced here. Harness racing was introduced during the early 20th century and remains one of the fair’s most popular attractions.

In addition to races, variety shows, concerts, demolition derby’s, tractor pulls, demonstrations, wrestling, and much more have drawn people to the fair.

Famous singers, celebrities, TV stars, and movie actors have performed there. Often times these were the one opportunity locals had to meet their favorite stars.
