1. Did you hear from Pastor Schenck? Yes, the day before yesterday.
2. What did you think of his picture? I think it is fine.
3. Have you gotten the box yet? Yes, and it sure was swell.
4. Did you send the cards to Aunt M and Jeanne? About a week ago.
5. How do you like Calif? I think it is swell out here.
6. I hear James Roosevelt is there at your camp. Have you seen him? He left about 3 mos. ago.
7. What did you think of Erma’s letter? I liked it.
8. Have you heard from Dot? Did you write? Yes and will answer her soon.
9. Why don’t you so to church? I haven’t found the Protestant Chapel yet and have only been out one weekend.
10. Have you met the Miller boy yet? No.
11. Do you need anything? Money.
12. What did you think of the pictures of the girls & us? I think they’re swell. You can send pictures often.
13. Are you getting the Northern Va. Daily? Yes, but give them my correct address.
14. Have you heard from Wally or Buddy? No. I sent Bud a card.
15. Can you write a little more, ha? Maybe.
16. Do you have nice huts? We have nice wooden barracks here with steam heat & showers.
Dear Dad. I am including this note to thank you for the money you have been sending me. I have been trying not to have to borrow any and I have only been out one weekend here. If you can advance me about $10 I will try not to ask for more till after the war. I had to borrow $12 when I lost mine. I am really sorry to ask this and thanks a lot. Love to all, Joe P.S. Hi Sis.
