Biographical Text
Betty was born in 1827. She was sold later to Andrew
Pittman. In 1860, she and her brother John were sold to Mr. Showalter for debts. Mr. Showalter gave Betty to his wife, Lou Hill Showalter of Winchester.
During the Civil War, she lived in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. After the Civil War, she returned to reconnect with her family.
