Biographical Text

On September 19, 1853 Ann is recorded as giving birth to a son Emanuel Gordon. The Virginia Births and Christenings Record, 1584-1917, lists her last name as Gordon and notes her owner is Jacob Lantz.

In 1870 "Annie" Gordon lives in Lottsburg, Northumberland County, in the eastern part of Virginia. She is 65 and works in "house keeping."

On February 21, 1878 Gordon marries a Bettie Ann Lewis in Gloucester County Virginia. Ann's name is listed as Nancy in the record. In 1880 she is living with Gordon, his wife, and their daughter Alice in "Abingdon Gloucester Virginia." Nancy is listed as being 75 years of age.
