Description

A cabinet card photograph of Jacob Ryman. The photograph was produced by Leedham of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.

Jacob Ryman was born September 10, 1877 in the St. Luke Community of Shenandoah County. On December 23, 1903 he married Rose Riffey also of St. Luke. At the time he is listed as a farmer. By 1917 he is living in Ellwood City, Lawrence Pennsylvania where he is working as a "Hammer Driver" at the Steel Car Forge Company. His WWI draft registration card noted he had a finger on his left hand amputated at the knuckle.

Jacob was still working at the forge in 1920, but he passed away on January 27, 1923 of pneumonia. His profession was given as "Ice Dealer." He is buried at Saint Luke Lutheran Church in Saint Luke, Virginia alongside his wife who died in 1962.
