Mary Ann Williamson wrote about Linden and his family in her book, The History of Edinburg, Virginia. In the book, she notes that the Winesburg family were prominent tinsmithers in Edinburg. Linden lived on High Street in Edinburg, but located his roofing company on Main Street.
Not only was Linden the owner of the Winesburg Roofing Company, he also owned the Pearl White theater and a restaurant.
He was noted as having owned the first automobile in Edinburg.
On the back of the photograph, someone labeled it as being Malcolm Winesburg and that it was taken in Edinburg on High Street. There is also the number 21 written on the back.
