Description

Portrait photograph of Laura Catherine Pence Funkhouser.

Laura lived in the Pleasant Valley community of Shenandoah County which is approximately 2 miles west of Mt. Jackson Virginia. She married Joseph Funkhouser on March 26, 1896 and had 5 children. He was a farmer, and Laura was listed as a housewife in 1930. She is buried at Cedar Grove Church.

This portrait photograph was taken by William Dean, a photographer in Harrisonburg Virginia. While it is undated, it was located in a album with other images dated 1892 so it likely dates to that period.
