In 1974 Ann Gurney was an extension officer working with Shenandoah County 4-H. She said it was “the perfect job in the perfect place.” Her responsibilities included attending club meetings, conducting programming, and helping with special education classes.
Born in Arlington County, she graduated from Virginia Tech with a major in home economics. She traveled extensively in Europe, was a member of the Woodstock Presbyterian Church, and attended “the newly formed slimnastics course” in the county.
