Jean Artz spent the pre-Christmas season of 1973 and 1974 working at her sewing machine. During that time she made 48 tote bags and other clothes for her customers and family.
A resident of the Top Knot community near Strasburg, her and her husband also managed a hobby farm and raised three two children. Jean was also known for her canning abilities, receiving awards for that and her sewing at the county fair.
