Photo of a photograph of Elsie B. Reed’s gravestone, located in Mercer County, West Virginia. The stone says: “Born May 31, 1899, Died Aug. 17, 1924, Age 25 Yrs. 2 Mos. 16 DS., Gone but not forgotten".
Elsie was born in Mercer County, the daughter of Robert E. (1861-1931) and Sarah Maggie (Benham) (1836-1937) Pendleton. Both of her parents were originally from Virginia.
Her husband was Bernard R. Reed, a farmer. In the 1920 census, Elsie was married, lived with her husband in Oakvale, Mercer County, and had a daughter, 2-year old “Pansie M. Reed”.
