He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan, and retired, in 1983, from Irvin Inc.
His wife was Mary Alice (Swartz) Foltz (1923-2014). Together, the couple raised four children: Ralph Foltz Jr., James Randall "Randy" Foltz, Sharon Louise (Foltz) Hall, and Michelle Susan (Foltz) Hawkins.
