Roy Arthur "Junior" Pangle was born on Capon Road in Strasburg to James Arthur and Zelda Belle (Beeler) Pangle.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1944 and served with the 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Battalion as a rifle marksman. His group served in Guam and North China. He attained the rank of Corporal.
After his discharge in 1947, Junior Pangle returned to Strasburg and married Margaret Ann (Rennie) Pangle. The couple raised two sons and three daughters together over many decades they were together.
Junior Pangle worked as a union carpenter for almost 40 years, retiring in 1989. He continued as a wood craftsman up until his death.
Mr. Pangle was known in later years for selling eggs and driving his blue Chevy truck with his cane hanging on the side.
His obituary noted, "He was a true landmark in the Strasburg community for over 90 years and will be missed dearly."
