Photograph of James Moreland of Edinburg, Virginia, holding his rifle and standing beside a his recent kill, a deer.

Mr. Moreland was born in Shenandoah County, son of the late George and Sally (Clem) Moreland. He was a member of Front Royal Moose Lodge 829 and of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

He had four wives and six children over the course of his life.

At the time of his death, James worked as a guard at a textile company.
