His civilian occupation had been as a truck driver when he enlisted in February 1942.
He served as a combat infantryman during his service and fought in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatres, earning a Purple Heart and other medals of valor.
He was wounded in France in September, 1944.
He was discharged from the Percy Jones General Hospital in Fort Custer, Michigan, in January 1947.
