Photograph of the Army's Honorable Discharge Certificate awarded to Technical Sergeant Allen L. Gochenour at the separation center at Ft. Meade, Maryland on June 30, 1945.

He served as a Sgt. and was an anti-tank crewman in the 116th Infantry where he was awarded several medals including a Purple Heart.

He served in Normandy, Northern France, and the Rhineland. His overseas service lasted three years.

Born in 1917, Sgt. Gochenour returned to Woodstock in June 1945.

His parents were Oscar Martin and Mary Ethel (Hepner) Gochenour. His mother died a few days after his birth. Allen was raised by his Aunt Maggie M. Gochenour.

He married Margaret Vivian Snyder after the war, in 1946. The couple divorced in 1955.

Allen's second wife was Virginia L. Lantz.
