Portrait of (left to right): "Hughie" O. Grandstaff, his father, Hugh H. Grandstaff, and William H. Groff. this photograph represents several wars and conflicts. Hugh H. Grandstaff served in the Spanish-American War, the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902), and World War I. Bill Groff (who was a chaplain) served in WWI and WWII. "Hughie" served in WWII. Hugh H. is holding a photo of his ancestor, Captain Koontz, who served in the Civil War. Bill Groff married Hugh H. Grandstaff's niece.

Hughie and Groff served in the US Army during World War Two, the latter as a chaplain.
