This handcar was utilized on the "Dinky Railroad" which ran from Edinburg Virginia to Liberty Iron Furnace in Shenandoah County during the first two decades of the 20th century. The owners of the rail line operated a gas powered hand car for several years to perform maintenance and to transport personnel.
