Portrait of Joseph Henry Kelley in his later years.
Joseph was born in Edinburg, the 2nd son of Patrick and Belle (Hockman) Kelley.
He married Mary Donaldson Davis (1870-1923), daughter of Josiah W. and Sidney Davis in 1889 in Edinburg. They couple moved to Brunswick, Maryland, between 1906 and 1910 where he worked for the railroad as a brakeman and conductor. The couple owned their home outright by 1910.
After his first wife died, Joseph married again. His second wife was Mabel (Dillow) Frye (1909-1980).
Joseph died as the result of an automobile accident in 1942. He is buried with his first wife in Woodstock.
