This photograph was used in the 1925 Strasburg High School yearbook. The yearbook staff wrote this about him:

"We have found during our four years of toil at Strasburg High that a more loyal, enthusiastic friend and pal than "Doug" could never be found. As President of our class he has always worked for the best interests of it, never ceasing to strive for its welfare. He constitutes the life and athletic unit of our class, being a basketball player and a member of the track team. "Doug" is considering a scholarship given by Handley School for his athletic ability."
