This photograph was used in the 1925 Strasburg High School yearbook. The yearbook staff wrote about him:

"Poley" is very well liked. Not only is he always ready to have a good time, but he is also ready to help in the preparation of one. If any one needs help anywhere at any time Roland is always willing and ready to offer his assistance. All due credit is due him for his faithful work on the "Shenandoah" as advertising manager. Every possible effort is always made a feature of everything he undertakes. September will find Roland a diligent student of pharmacy at the Medical College of Virginia, where we are sure he will perform his duties as faithfully as he has at S.H.S."
