Photograph of Charles Virgil Shoemaker who lived in Woodstock. Born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, his parents were Herbert and Matilda Shoemaker.
C.V. Shoemaker is best remembered for his service as a Superintendent of Shenandoah County Schools, but he also worked served as Principal of the Woodstock High School for a time and was a teacher for many years before that.
When he married Maria Louise Snapp (1884-1925) in 1914, he was a teacher in Woodstock. They had at least two sons and a daughter together before she died. His second wife was Lula Brooks (1886-1970), who survived him.
