Spiker was born in Mt. Olive/North Mountain on November 4 1853 to parents Ezra and Rebecca Spiker. He married Fannie Funkhouser in 1881 and, following her death in 1913, married Margaret Wallace of Brooklyn New York in 1915.
Daniel Spiker served as Sheriff of Shenandoah County from 1898-1915. Apart from his terms as Sheriff, he was a farmer in the Mt. Olive community.
He died April 26, 1921 at his home on High Street in Woodstock Virginia.
