Description
Studio portrait of three Dellinger brothers: (l to r) Tuck, Marshall, and Clyde Dellinger. Their parents were Mantonia and Gertie Selena (Mumaw) Dellinger.
"Tuck" Dellinger lived in Mt. Jackson and was already married to Algie Lee Dellinger when he registered for the WWII draft. At that time, his employer was Charles C. Bowman. The 1950 census found him working for the State Highway Department. He lived with his wife and teenaged daughter, Peggy L.
Marshall served in the United States Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II attaining the rank of Sergeant in the 92nd Bomb Group 'H', flying in the rugged B-17 Flying Fortress, one of the more than 16,000 B-17s produced throughout the war. Tragically, he was killed while flying a mission over Belgium in 1945.
Clyde married Esther Frances Foltz (1916-2002). When he registered for the WWII draft, they lived in Conicville and he worked for W.W. Shields in Columbia Furnace. By 1950, the couple had four children -- Claudette, Wilbur, Douglas and Carolyn. Clyde worked in a textile plant and the family still lived in the Conicville area.
