Earl lived on his farm on Ridge Road west of New Market for more than 60 years.
In 1954, he started working in retail sales at J. C. Penny, Alfred Neys, and finally as a manager for the Rockingham Farm Bureau in Harrisonburg, Virginia, from which he retired in 1984.
He was married to Jeannette Olinger Sellers.
