Benjamin Chalmers Hollar, shown as a young U.S. Navy yeoman wearing his uniform.

Chalmers was born and grew up in Edinburg, son of Lester Granville (1900-1953) and Mazie Irene (Lambert) (1901-1988) Hollar.

He was a 1946 graduate of Edinburg High School. He attended Bridgewater College and graduated from Shenandoah Business College.

He married Betty Lou (Reger) (1930-2004) Hollar and had two sons, S. Michael Hollar and Jeffrey A. Hollar.

Chalmers was a Korean War veteran having served 22 years in the Navy on different assignments sponsored by the Intelligence Community.

He was formerly employed with Kennedy Konstruction Kompany and later retired from Jadwyn Corporation.

He was a member of Edinburg VFW, Woodstock American Legion, Disabled Veterans, National Association of Uniformed Services and Fleet Reserve Association.

The name, "Hollar", is written on the glass plate.
