George was born in Carroll County, Maryland, and grew up there.
During WWI, George was a member of the 112th Field Signal Battalion and spent nine months overseas.
When he registered for the WWII draft, he lived in Edinburg and worked for the State Farm Insurance Company.
His wife was Helen Margaret (Boos) Maus (1902-1988). They married in 1920 in Maryland. Their children were: George Victor Maus, Jr., Margaret M. (Maus) Irvin and Louise Maus.
