Alton Carroll Foltz, a farmer from the Edinburg area of Shenandoah County, wearing a suit and tie and standing in the studio.
A. Carroll had two wives. The first, Lizzie E. (Dodson) Foltz, he married in 1911. She died only 8 years later.
His second wife was Mary Irene (Pence) Foltz with whom he had two children, Burdette and Peggy Ann Foltz. Both of his children were born in Bowmans Crossing, near Edinburg.
The name, "Foltz", is written on the glass plate.
