He was a grandson of Ephriam Bowman and a son of Martin Luther and Ida Roseanna (Myers) Bowman from the rural Edinburg area of Shenandoah County.
He married Joyce Augusta (Dellinger) Bowman and raised three sons with her: Wilbur Alden Bowman, Twymore Elmore Bowman, and Dick Delford Bowman.
Both he and his wife are buried together in Conicville, Shenandoah County.
The name, "Bowman", is written on the glass plate of this image.
