William was born in Toms Brook, the son of William Henry Sr. and Rebecca (Snarr) Borden.
He had two wives. The first was Caroline Virginia "Carrie" (Hamman) Borden who died in 1916. He had at least five children with her, all born before 1885.
Not long after this photograph was made, in 1920, William married his second wife, Ida Frances (Sheetz) Borden. By then, his children were grown.
He is buried with his first wife in Harrisville, near Toms Brook.
