Description

Photograph of Herbert Wilson Dellinger standing in his U.S. Army uniform with his hands at his sides. He served in the military from January 1945 to February 1946.

Herbert was from Strasburg, a son of Arthur Benton and Lydia Margaret (Racey) Dellinger.

He married Odie Louise Shiley from Edinburg in 1938.

In the 1940 census, Herbert and his wife lived with his family on a farm on Back Road in the Davis District. They had a one-year old daughter, Imogene, by then.

Ten years later, the couple still lived on the same farm and had eight children. Herbert worked as a carpenter for a construction company.

Both Herbert and his wife are buried in Saint Stephens Cemetery, Strasburg Junction, Shenandoah County.

The name, "Herbert Dellinger", is written on the glass plate.
