For more than fifty years, Mr. Henkel was a newspaper man, printer, and publisher.
He was the son of Rev. Socrates Henkel and the grandson of Ambrose Henkel, founder of the "Henkel Press" in New Market.
This photograph was used in the book, "A History of Shenandoah County, Virginia" by John Wayland (page 491).
