Portrait photograph of Stanley John Wakeman in his Edinburg High School graduation cap and gown.

Stanley was the son of Galen F. (1898-1980) and Maude Elizabeth (Clem) Wakeman (1903-1993) from Wakemans Grove near Edinburg. He had many siblings.

He married Betty Lee (Miller) Wakeman (1931-2011) in 1951.

He worked as a salesman for Truck Suppliers and was a member of Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren. He was an active reserve and color guard at the American Legion Post 199 in Woodstock when he died.

Identified in 2012 by Nancye L. Bowman who knew the subject when they were schoolmates at Edinburg High School.
His obituary was published on February 7, 2011, in both the Northern Virginia Daily and the Daily News Record (Harrisonburg, VA). Some information from those articles was used here.
