Subject

Observation towers - Virginia - Shenandoah County

Description

Photograph of a wooden observation tower with a roof, and housing a telescope.

The tower stood on Hupps Hill, near Crystal Caverns. It is uncertain if this is a WWII era aircraft observation tower or an observation tower built by the developer of the area for tourists.

This photograph was used on page 199 of the book, "Strasburg Community Memories" by C. Douglas Cooley, published in 1999.
