I am currently writing a book on the history of Kauffman's Mill that stood on the Shenandoah River at the foot of the Massanutten Mountain for 200 years. Your postcard #894 depicts a photograph taken at the mill circa 1891. I have a copy of the same phtograph taken at a different angle that shows only the people sitting and standing on the dam. Your postcard shows the entire party, including four people standing in the boat. The people shown are all members of my family, including my grandfather and his father. I would like to request permission to use this photo in my book, and if possible, to obtain a high quality scan. The photo has signifiant historical significance, because it shows the configuration of the dam in the late 1800s. It also shows debeis from an earlier dam that was destroyed by a flood.
Please respond to this request at your earliest convenience. I can be reached via my email address or by telephone (443-306-8122).
Thank you for your time and courtesy.
